Are you wanting to change the look of your home? Are you embarrassed to have people over.A great and simple way to increase a home’s value is to improve the look of your kitchen. People spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Look at your cabinetry. There are many easy and effective ways to change the look of your kitchen. You can refinish your cabinets, or even alter them by creating a glass front.
Changing To Glass Front
A great way to change old, flat surfaced cabinets is to make glass doors out of the doors you already have. Take the cabinet door fronts off and their hardware, so you can lay it down flat,
and then measure a opening for your cabinet door. It is best to leave at least a couple of inches around the edge to retain strength.
Drill 4 pilot holes in the 4 corners, and then using a jig saw, cut out your opening. Then put decorative moldings on the front, to hold your glass in, and 1/4 round on the back. Repaint your cabinets, and the change is stunning! It is not hard, and you will give new life to your kitchen cabinets without buying new ones, and getting glass cut is very inexpensive, (unless you go for tempered or etched).Changing the hardware can make all the difference in the world. You can update your kitchen, while waiting to update your bank account!
You need to pay attention at the condition of your cabinets. If they are severely worn or damaged, you may want to replace instead of refinish. However, refinishing adds style as well as functionality. Changing the front of your cabinets to glass will completely change the look and can add a touch of class to your kitchen.

Lighting matters! It is not only important on TV and movie sets, but also in the kitchen.
There are four basic lighting types for the kitchen. Through a simple mix-and-matching the four different lighting types, you can recreate and accentuate your kitchen design style: General Lighting, Natural lighting, Accnet lighting, and task lighting.
Indeed, if you are on a small budge, kitchen lighting is one of the most dramatic ways to transform your kitchen. Swap out the old-country style single overhead light fixture for a few well-placed projection-style light elements, and you will pleasantly surprised by the dramatic change in look and feel of your kitchen.
General Lighting
General lighting typically refers to the ceiling-mounted lights, wall-bracketed lights, and island pendant lightings. Intended for lighting up the kitchen in general, they are usually larger pieces than either accent lighting or task lighting. While general lightings are commonly incandescent or fluorescent overhead types, recent trend is toward recessed lighting.
Natural Lighting
Natural lighting creates a feeling of openness and spaciousness in the kitchen. Natural lights can be introduced into the kitchen through larger windows or skylights. And, of course, one of the best things about natural lights is that it is completely free. At the same time, however, installing larger windows and skylights is more expensive than the other three lighting options.
Accent Lighting
Accent lighting enhances the mood in the kitchen, by literally shunning a different light on fixtures in the kitchen that are not covered by general lighting. Typical examples include wall sconce or light strips. Adding accent lighting is a relatively easy and inexpensive task. While incandescent light bulbs are still the most common for accent lights, LED is becoming increasing popular.
Task Lighting
As the name implies, task lighting puts light where you need it to perform tasks, whether it be reading or food preparation. Typical examples include under-the-cabinet lights, recessed lights over a sink, and singular puck halogen lights. As with accent light, adding task lighting is a relatively easy and inexpensive task. Task lightings are usually incandescent or fluorescent.
Because of its larger size and prominence, general lighting is the most important lighting element in setting the look and feel of the kitchen. Accent and task lightings complement general lighting to strengthen the kitchen theme. IKEA, Target, and Home Depot are three store chains that carry a wide variety of all kitchen lightings.
